The Cult @ The Ogden, Denver, CO 2012-05-30

It's been a long time since I  last saw the Cult.  22 years give or take.  I'd say that they have aged pretty well.
Nice selection of the hits and some new numbers.

Against Me! @ The Ogden, Denver, CO 2012-05-30

Was surprised to see these guys opening up for the Cult.  They could headline the Ogden themselves at this point.  The new drummer is kicking ass.  Really good set from Against Me!.  Wish they had played a bit longer.
Oh well.  Enjoy.

Mark Lanegan Band @ The Bluebird, Denver,CO 2012-05-20

Went into this show with low expectations.  I had heard his new album and thought it was good but it didn't grab me right away.  Still he hardly ever tours the USA so when I saw he was coming to town I knew that I needed to go check it out.  Glad I went.  As often happens I don't always connect with a song until I hear it live.  Really good show.  Check it out.

Mariachi El Bronx @ The Fox 2012-05-17

I just can not get enough of this band.  Not something I ever thought I would be saying about a mariachi band but the world is a weird and wondrous place that's full of surprises.  This is a recording of their recent performance at the lovely Fox Theater in Boulder, Colorado.  I think it turned out really nice.  Enjoy.

Mojo Nixon @ The Lion's Lair, April 13th & 14th, 2012

Mojo Nixon doesn't tour any more at all so it was a special treat to have him return to Denver Colorado and play not one but two shows.  He didn't have a band with him but solo Mojo was pretty fun.

The crowd was full of Mojo fanatics that knew all the songs so they sang along and yelled out requests the whole night.  So crack open a beer and try and conjure up what you imagine Colfax smells like and you will be in the right frame of mind to check out these recordings.

Modest Mouse @ The Gothic, Englewood, CO 2000-09-10

"We're Fugazi from Washington DC and we wrote a song about it" are the first words out of Issac Brock's mouth before the break into "Trailer Trash".  Not sure what that is all about but I guess I can hear some Fugazi influence in Modest Mouse's music.

I didn't record this show but my friend Chapper did the work on this one.  If I recall correctly the show was sold out but somehow he made it in and managed to get this great audio image of the nights performance.

I think is is my favorite era of Modest Mouse.  Pretty much all my favorite songs get played.  I like the new car commercial era songs too but these ones just speak to me on a different level.

Happy Easter - Megadeth live in Denver 1986

Remember when Megadeth was absolutely face ripping?  I know it's been a long time and a lot of shitty albums later but it's true.  They used to rip faces right off.  This is a good example of that former power.  Even though it was recorded before Peace Sells came out this features a bunch of those now classic tunes.

There seems to be some debate about the date and venue for this recording.  I've seen it listed both as January 29th 1986 and August 5th 1986.  The case for the January date hinges on the fact that Dave mentions the space shuttle challenger disaster, which happened on January 28th 1986, but I guess it's possible that he still could have been talking about that into August of 1986.

The August date makes sense because Megadeth was opening up for King Diamond on the Fatal Portrait tour and that hit Denver in August 1986.  Seems like kind of a long set for an opening act though.

The confusion continues with the venue.  I've seen it listed as McNichols Arena, Rainbow Music Hall, even Irving Plaza?.  I'm thinking that this is from the Rainbow Music Hall just based on the fact that there have been a lot of really nice recordings to surfaced from that place. Plus for the time that is where Megadeth would have played.  Would have been too late to have been at Norman's

I do know for a fact that it was recorded in Denver because Dave mention's Denver multiple times.

If anyone was at this show and can clear up the confusion I would love to hear from you.

This recording made it around in the tape trading circles and got pressed to vinyl way back in the day as well. I got my copy though CDr trading.  No idea on the real originator of this but hats off to who ever taped it.

Now download this and Rattle Your Goddman Head!!
