Hog Molly @ Bluebird Theater, Denver CO, 2001-03-20

Hog Molly is Tad Doyle of of his namesake band TAD early aughts post TAD band.  Not surprisingly it sounds very much in the vein of what he was doing in TAD.  Loud, crunchy, and bombastic.

They released 1 album in 2001 and did a small bit of touring.  This show is from a tour with fellow Seattle band Zeke.  Denver's own Hemi Cuda was also on this bill.

Also in the band was "Metal" Marty Chandler who now plays in the Supersuckers but was also in a very overlooked but amazing late 80s thrash metal band Panic.  Well worth your time to look up if your into that era of metal.

I might have traded this out on CDR a few times back in the day.  This is a fresh transfer from the master.  Sound pretty good I think. Enjoy.

Public Enemy @ Ogden Theater, Denver CO, 2002-10-02

Here is a show my friend Tom Chaffin captured back in 2002.  Hip-Hop acts are hit or miss for allowing recording in my experience.  But Tom rolled up on this show and asked if he could record and they gave him a soundboard patch.  Amazing.  Chuck states at the beginning "we are recording a live album tonight" which is why this go sat on at the time.  18 years later I'm guessing that is going to happen so here you go.  Time to let it out into the wild.

This show illustrates what has been an ongoing theme with Public Enemy since the start.  Flavor Flav troubles.  Chuck announces early that Flav isn't there because he has been arrested in NYC.  So the recent dust up between Flav and Chuck over playing a Bernie Sanders rally is nothing new.

Not that you really miss Flav not being there in person.  The DJ samples all the main Flav lines live which I image has always been the case.

This show had PE backed by not only DJ Lord but live drums, guitar, and bass.  They are a bit low in the mix but it does add a lot to the over all impact.  Live hip-hop with just a DJ can seem a little sterile sometimes.

Big thanks to Tom for letting me share this.  Enjoy.

Sleep @ Gothic Theater, Englewood CO, 2014-01-03

I've been siting on this one for awhile.  Was thinking I didn't like it for some reason.  Then I listened to it and thought it sounded pretty good.  Then I remembered the dipshits that loud talked while smoking a joint near the mics during a really quite part of the show.  It happens and you can't control that.  Must have bummed me out back then to not even post it.

Well I took another look through it and eliminated they whole inane conversation between the dudes.  Between Dopesmoker and Antarcticans Thawed there is a short fade out and fade in.  One other spot that I can't recall.  Doesn't effect the show's integrity what so ever.

My late buddy Dan Utter did the mastering work on this back then.  Miss that guy.  Enjoy.

Mr. Bungle @ Ogden Theater, Denver CO, 1999-07-22

This was my first time seeing Mr. Bungle.  I had been a fan since the first album but was working a 2nd shift job and couldn't make it out to see their show at the Gothic back in 92.

This was their first time back to Colorado since then.  I remember people were stoked.  Line around the block to get in.

Door guy confiscated my weed and pipe.  Tossed my pipe in the trash and put my weed in his pocket.  Fucker!!  He didn't notice my recording gear though.

Maybe not so funny now given current events but at this show Mike Patton says they brought the flesh eating virus from California and are giving it to everyone.

This has been out in the wild on CDRs since way back then.  This version is a fresh transfer from my master and I've cleaned up some of the drop outs and boosted the levels a little bit.  Enjoy.

Y&T @ Eck's Saloon, Lakewood CO, 2006-04-28

This was a fun one.  My first and only time seeing Y&T.  Been a fan since the Mean Steak days.  So a long time.  I think they are an underrated band that people may dismiss as hair metal.  But they have been an active band since 1974.  So way before that was a marketing term.  A lot of people that dismiss "hair metal" often don't seem to make the connection that it's just rock n roll music.  Their loss.

Another fun one to revisit.  Enjoy.

Mojo Nixon @ LODO Music Fest, Denver CO, 2000-07-07

Any chance I get to see Mojo Nixon I take it.  This time back in 2000 it was at the AT&T LODO Music Fest.  It was a fest that ran in downtown Denver for about 10 years.  Mostly I didn't care all that much about the fairly mainstream line ups but in 2000 the had Mojo and Southern Culture on the Skids.  It was  must see.

The year before Mojo had played at the Lion's Lair.

Posted here - Mojo Nixon at the Lion's Lair -
So I was excited to see him again even if it was in a big parking lot instead of a small club.

While I was waiting for Mojo to go on I was wondering around the park lot and saw Mojo in the crowd.  He was walking across the the asphalt in front of all the stages when I saw him and called out to him.  I welcomed him to Denver and he asked if we had seen him at the Lion's Lair the summer before.

I told him that I had indeed seen that show and was excited to see him preform again that night.  He then says "Some crazy fool posted that Lion's Lair show online complete with a track called "Mojo Takes A Shit" ".  I asked him if he was OK with that and he said "I don't care I'm not some asshole like Metallica!"

Then I told him that I was the person that recorded that show and showed him my recording gear.  He smiled and said that it was cool.  Then he asked me if I had any drugs.  I was not holding so we wished each other well and away he went.

Mojo was in fine form on this night and holds nothing back.  The recording sounds really nice too I think.  Fun to re-visit this one.  Enjoy.

Railbenders @ Larimer Lounge, Denver CO, 2003-03-17

Here is another older show from the archive.  Denver's own Railbenders kicking some ass on a super snowy Saint Patrick's Day.  The show was really well attended considering it was a Monday night and a full on blizzard outside. It had already snowed so much the ceiling was leaking water onto the stage.  By the next morning there was close to 3 feet of snow at my old place in Thronton.

The Railbenders are still active to this day but don't play nearly as many shows as they did around this time.  Always a fun time and all the guys are top notch players.  This set featured a slew of their fantastic originals and a bunch of choice covers from the likes of Hank Flamingo, David Allen Coe, Ernest Tubb, and Cracker.

Got a really nice board recording that night.  Enjoy.
