Supersuckers, The Big Show, Denver CO, 2004-04-30

So for my 500th post on ThatsTheThingAboutThat I wanted to post something special.  I named this blog after a Supersucker's song on 1995 album  'The Sacrilicious Sounds Of The Supersuckers', 'The Thing About That'.  I added the 'Thats' to the beginning.   So it seems appropriate to post a show by the Supersuckers for the 500th post.

When I started getting into trying to record shows it was bands like the Supersuckers that I wanted to capture.  I was a huge fan and wouldn't miss a show.  My 2nd outing to record a show ever was a 1999 Supersuckers show.  It's posted on here if you want to here it.  So in my arc of this hobby Supersuckers are a very important band.  I saw them a ton of times.  When they would play Denver, Boulder, Ft Collins I would go to every show.  They also were very taper friendly and I got multiple guest lists spots and board access.

They are still at it today.  Eddie is only original member left but the current line up with Marty Chandler and Chris Von Streicher has been going strong for 10 years now.  Eddie is a lifer.  Glad to see him still out there getting after it taking The Greatest Rock N Roll Band in the World all around the world.

This show was from the start of their run of Big Show tours in 2004.  They had no opening act and just played a giant set.  Starting with Eddie solo and then a country set, Eddie solo again, and then a full rock set.  This show clocks in at almost 2 1/2 hours.   Great song selection, great covers, band at the height of their powers I would say.   They came back later in October of 2004 to play some more "big shows".  I might post one of those at another time.  A couple of those are on the LMA already.

This was a great soundboard mix with just enough audience in there that it isn't a sterile bore.  I've posted this on the LMA as well if you want to stream it.   Enjoy.

Royal Thunder @ Hi Dive, Denver CO, 2019-06-14

Royal Thunder is a fantastic metal / hard rock band out of Atlanta.  All three of their albums are worth a listen.  For this show they were in Denver as part of the Electric Funeral Fest IV.  That fest was always a blast.  It went on hiatus right before the pandemic hit.  Maybe it will return someday.

Nice sound on this one I think.  Enjoy.
