Two Cow Garage @ The Lion's Lair, Denver, CO 2013-10-18

My first almost experience with Two Cow Garage was going to be in Lincoln Nebraska back in 2005.  They were supposed to open up for Slobberbone.  I think their van broke down and they didn't make it that night.  The name was off kilter enough that I didn't forget it and I figured if Slobberbone was going to have them open they must be decent.

Fast forward a couple years later and I find out Denver's own Suburban Home is going to be putting out a Two Cow Garage album and that they were coming to town.  I finally got to see them play live and loved it from the first note.  They just brought the exact kind of sound that I was seeking.

They have put out a couple album since then and some solo records by Shane and Micah.  Not a dud in the bunch.  TCG is a solid rock n roll outfit.  If your not familiar with their music I can't recommend it highly enough.

Last Friday was a full on Two Cow Garage day.  First up I helped out my buddy Dammit Damian capture his first ever live in front of an audience Mostly Harmless podcast at the Mutiny Information Cafe here in Denver.  He talked to the band about a variety of subjects and Micah and Shane handed a guitar back and forth for some song.
Check out his podcast here:

Here is a video I shot of TCG covering Bruce Springsteen's Born To Run at the Lion's Lair.

Against Me! @ Riot Fest - Byers, CO 2013-09-21

For a band that has been going for more then a decade now Against Me! shows no signs of slowing up.  If anything I think their best years might be ahead of them.  I can't wait to hear their new album.

Live they always bring it and this day at Riot Fest was no exception.  The only downside was the sun was setting right behind the band so it made it hard to look up and watch the show.  Nice mix of songs across the Against Me catalog an some new tunes as well.  Enjoy.

FLAG @ Riot Fest - Byers CO, 2013-09-22

Loud Fast Rules!!  Right on the heels of Public Enemy on the next stage over FLAG tore into it.  Super Loud!!!  Also right as a weather front was blowing in.  The wind picked up almost right away and blew one of the side banners hanging from the stage loose.  The crew scrambled to lower the speakers and secure everything from the approaching storm while the band played on.  20 minutes in or so they cut power to the PA and emergency weather announcements started to be heard.

Then we were told to evacuate the site.  It appeared that a storm with 1" hail, strong wind, rain, and lightning was headed out way.  It turned out that the worst of it mostly missed the farm.  We just got rained on and wind blown.  After 2+ hours the reopened the site and all the scheduled bands still played.  Mostly in a downpour the later it got.

The combination of the volume from the stage and the uptic in the wind take a toll on the quality of this recording.  Vocals are clear though.  It is what it is.  Warts and all.  Enjoy.

Rocket From The Crypt @ Riot Fest, Byers CO, 2013-09-21

It's been a decade since I last got to see Rocket From The Crypt and I sure have missed seeing them.  Sure their were some heavy hitters on the Riot Fest bill but RFTC being on it convinced me that I had to go.

They still sound great and they played a nice mix of material across their career.  Enjoy.

Paul Westerberg live @ the Ogden, Denver CO, 2005-03-03

"You're Uncivilized Heathens!!  You deserve nothing but bone crunching stupid rock"  Paul Westerberg

So here is another recording presented in anticipation of Riot Fest coming to Denver this weekend.  With the Replacements headlining on Saturday night!  Paul Westerberg live at the Ogden Theater in Denver Colorado on March 3rd 2005.

Back then this was as close I as I figured I'd ever get to seeing the Replacements.  Good set list of old and new tunes.  Both from his solo releases and the Replacements.

One note about this recording is that it is incomplete.  The original WAV files disapeared from my hard drives and backups.  This got shared online back in 2005 and I burned a few CDRs for some people.  If anyone has it in the original FLAC format or has it on CDRs that where burned from FLACs please let me know.  I would love to have a complete version of this.

That being said the 3 songs that are missing aren't a huge lose and don't effect the enjoyment of the show.

Paul Westerberg's band included Kevin Bowe on guitar, Jim Boquist on bass, and Michael Bland on drums.

About the cover picture.  That is from this show.  Paul dropped his pants for some reason later in the night.

Enjoy
