From the same honey hole of recording that brought us the last Sonic Youth post. Here is a Lantz tape of Helmet at the Mercury Cafe in Denver CO on July 31st 1992. A couple of months into the tour for In The Meantime.
They are road tight and just nail these songs to the wall. Crushing.
Sadly I wasn't at this show. I didn't see Helmet until the Betty tour I think. Maybe with Melvins? The 90s were a pretty amazing time for music.
Lantz once again delivers a really nice sounding recording. I can only imagine how loud it was in there. What a treat to get to hear this after all these years. Thanks Lantz for the loan of the 1st gen cassette masters and the chance to share these with the world. Watch this space for a bunch of uncirculated shows. Enjoy
