Jesse Dayton @ The Bluebird, Denver, CO 2002-04-13

Jesse Dayton is a country / honky-tonk / rock-a-billy singer & red hot guitar slinger from Beaumont Texas.
He has been around playing music for quite a spell in various bands.  He caught my attention because he played guitar on the Supersuckers country album Must've Been High.  I picked up his album Rasin' Cain shortly there after and loved it.  It was awhile before I got to see him play his country act.  The end of the 90's there was a rock-a-billy revival of sorts and I saw Jesse's band The Road Kings open up for Mike Ness.  The Road Kings are an amazing band as well.  Check them out too.

It wasn't until 2001 that Jesse came to Denver with his country band and played at the Lion's Lair.  To about 20 people.  He said it reminded him of his parents basement.  He's been back a handful of times over the years and always puts on a good show.

In fact he is coming into Denver this week.  He is playing at the Marquis Theater on Thursday August 22nd.

Check his stuff out here.  He's got a lot of iron's in the fire these day so it will be a treat to see him play out of Texas.

This show is when he opened up for the Supersucker country extravaganza tour back in 2002.  Enjoy.

Scott H Biram @ 3 Kings, Denver, CO 2013-07-13

In the 10 years that I've been seeing Mr Biram I've never seen him put on a bad show.  This night was no exception.  Nice long set and a crazy into it crowd.  Fueled by alcohol on both sides of the stage it seemed it might derail a couple of times.  A few fights and some yelling along the way but we all managed to get along and have a grand time in the end.  Enjoy.

Steve Earle & The Dukes @ The Ogden, Denver, CO 2000-07-31

Here is an oldie but a goodie.  This was an amazing show that I attended 13 years ago.  My first time seeing Mr Steve Earle as well.  Had been a fan of his music for awhile so I recall I was excited to see this show.

Mr. Earle can be kind of long winded sometimes but not at this show.  Him and his hot shit band just plow through song after song.  They end the set with a set of choice covers.

I recorded this from a front row seat in the Ogden balcony so there isn't a lot a chatter from the crowd.
This is one of my favorite recordings that I have ever made.  Hope you dig it.

Melvins @ the Summit in Denver, CO 2013-07-15

I've lost track of the number of times that I have seen the Melvins.  They tour all the time so probably at least once a year since 1995 or so.  Their line-up has changed a bunch over the years but they are always consistently great.

For this 30th Anniversary tour Jared, part of the Big Business duo that joined the Melvins back in 2006, was home with his new baby.  In his place for this tour is Jeff Pinkus of Butthole Surfer fame.  He was a perfect fit.

Hope you dig it.  Enjoy

Turbonegro @ The Ogden, Denver,CO 2013-05-20

The story is that Turbonegro played in Denver one other time back at the end of the 90's at the Lion's Lair.  It was right after SXSW and Hank had split home and a roadie sang.  My friend that used to do sound at the Lair said 10 or less people were there.

In 2003 I drove to Lawrence Kansas to soak in the darkness.  So I was please that they were coming to Denver finally.  With the Dwarves none the less.  Fun show.  Check it out.

Peeping Tom @ The Gothic 2007-04-18

Mike Patton fans talked in hushed tones about the forthcoming Peeping Tom project for years and years before it ever saw the light of day.  Supposed demos were leaked and it never was quite clear what direction the project was going to take.  Lovage is a better example of were it ended up than Fantomas.

Trip hop?  Modern R&B, Freestyle rap, beat boxing.  It's all in there.  If your fan of any of that or a Mike Patton fan in general this is worth checking out.

Slayer live @ The Ogden, Denver CO 1998-06-04

In honor of Jeff Hanneman of SLAYER passing away recently I thought I would post some live stuff on here.  First up is SLAYER live at the Ogden Theater back in 1998.  I won six comp tickets from some online contest.  I remember they showed up at my house via FEDEX.  I gave 4 of them away to friends and then the other 2 to some random kids out front.

This was right after SLAYER had released Diabolus in Musica.  What some people branded their sell out nu metal album based on one track Stain Of Mind.  I guess it had a bit of different sound for SLAYER but the rest of the album is heavy as hell.  Scrum, Bitter Peace, Screaming From The Sky.  Great stuff I think.

Maybe because the album was so new they only played one song from it.  Rest of the setlist is super solid.

System of a Down and Clutch opened up the show.

The first track suffers a bit from the taper adjusting the levels a bit but hang in there it gets better.

Here is a little added bonus show.  I've never heard a recording from a Denver stop of the Reign In Blood tour but this little gem from Salt Lake City will  have to do.  A little unsure about that date.  This is a nice sounding recording from the soundboard.  The band is on fire too.  They're so fucking fast.
