Here is a pretty fresh one. The Callous Daoboys live at the Hi Dive back on March 22nd of this year. They were part of a tour with their friends in fellow Atlanta band '68. I had seen '68 before when the opened for the Bronx at Globe Hall. 1st time seeing The Callous Daoboys.
They kind of sound like Dillinger Escape Plan but have some math and metalcore influences along with a pinch or Faith No More perhaps. The band members are all pretty young so they are of a generation that grew up being able to listen to anything they wanted at any time. I think that has produced some very interesting stuff in the last decade or so. Lots of 90s nostalgia in the mix too. I'm here for it.
This is a band that I tried to delve into their catalog a few times and I could see where they were coming from but I just wasn't quite sure what to think. For me seeing a band live is where it often all comes into focus and I become a fan.
Go support independent music by seeing live shows and buying merch directly from the artists you love and the new discovery's that you make along the way. We are all richer when there is great independent art flourishing in the world.

One of my son's friends is a former member of the Callous Daoboys. You're exactly right: they are part of a generation that grew up being able to listen to anything they wanted at any time. And I agree, that exposure to diverse influences has produced some very interesting music!
