Here is another MarcR tape. This time a 1995 Morphine set from the Mammoth Event Center (aka now the Fillmore) in Denver. They were part of a interesting bill. Featuring a headlining Violent Fems, Morphine, Reverend Horton Heat, Supersuckers, and Hagfish. Sounds fun. I have recordings of RHH and SSKs but not the other two.
Marc did a nice job on most all of these recordings but this one is astoundingly good for what a horrible boomy barn this room is. Eddie from Supersuckers spends a fair amount of time complaining about the sound and venue during their set. This Morphine sounds really nice. It's close to a really nice board mix with minimal crowd. I don't know how he did it. Tape is labeled as "5 feet in front of left stack." I'm having a hard time believing that. Sometime you just capture magic.
Great show from Morphine with a pretty talkative Mark Sandman. Enjoy.
