Fear Factory @ Fillmore, Denver CO, 2001-01-24

Here is one from awhile back.  Fear Factory headlining the SnoCore Rock tour back in 2001. They were just about to release their Digimortal album and played a few songs from it.  I was a fan from the first album and had seen them a few times already.

At sometime in the mid 90s I took my little daughter to Angelo's Records up on 120th and Colorado to a Fear Factory signing event.  They were real nice and signed my Graphics Bongs bicycle jersey and my green vinyl promo copy of Brujeria's - Marijuana 7 inch single.  The secret was out that Dino had played on some of the Brujeria recordings.  I wish I never sold that record.

Kittie, The Union Underground, and Boy\Hits/Car played as well.  The poster says Slaves On Dope were on the bill too but I have no recollection or recording of their set.

Sound on this isn't bad.  Vocals are pretty clear through out.  Mix is a little muddy but that is the Fillmore for you.  Enjoy.

The Spits @ Hi Dive, Denver CO, 2022-11-04

The Spits are so much fun.  I love seeing this band.  Colorado doesn't get a lot of chances.  Before this it had been 10 years since they were here.   Also at the Hi Dive.  So it made sense that they would play the Hi Dive's 20th anniversary shows.

The Spits aren't an encore kind of band but since you can't get "backstage" from the stage at the Hi Dive.  You either walk off or play some more.  We got some more songs on this night.  Great show.  Sounds really nice I think too.  Enjoy.

Cheap Trick @ Ball Arena, Denver CO, 2023-08-01

Here is the Cheap Trick opening set from the Rod Stewart show last week.  I had never seen Cheap Trick for some reason despite being a fan since childhood in the 70/80s.   I can't remember where I first heard them but I had a copy of the 1980 single " Everything Works If You Let It / Way Of The World" and I remember them being on the soundtrack to the 1979 coming of age movie "Over The Edge".

Over The Edge deserves a little side note.  This is a pretty wild movie that was filmed in Colorado.  Location were up in Greeley for the school scenes and down by Cherry Creek Reservoir for the rest.  Great rock n roll sound track and some fun rowdy dialog that I loved as a kid.  Matt Dylan's first movie roll as well.

As expected Cheap Trick's set is mostly all the hits but we get a song from their 2021 album even.  Fun show and I would see them again for sure.  Now I just need a time machine to go back and see them in their heyday.   Enjoy.

Rod Stewart @ Ball Arena, Denver CO, 2023-08-01

This was my second time seeing Rod Stewart.  I caught him in the early aughts when he did an "evening with" at the same hockey arena.    That time he did two sets.  One of songs from the great American songbook.  The second set was all of his hits.

This time he brought Cheap Trick along and just played an all hits set.  Fun night.  Didn't expect him to have just a wild projection light show.   Hell of a production.

Pretty happy how this turned out so I wanted to share it sooner rather than later.  Enjoy

Supersuckers @ Bluebird Theatre, Denver CO, 1997-07-01

Here is a really nice board mix of the Supersuckers at the Bluebird in 1997.  Must Have Been High had been out for a few months but this is a full on rock show.  It took awhile for their country side to catch on with a lot of the fans.   As close as it gets at this show is Dirt Roads, Dead Ends, & Dust.  Which at the time was an unreleased song.   It shows up on 1999s Evil Powers of Rock N Roll.

I went to this show but hadn't started recording shows yet.  I can't remember who I got this from back in the crazy CDR trading days.  Or who recorded it.  The Bluebird had a recording setup that multiple people had access too.  Sounds pretty nice.  As a little more life to it then a lot of board tapes.

Rowdy crowd and a kick ass setlist on this night.  Lots of the classics and a preview of a few songs that end up on Evil Powers.  Added bonus for me is that they play the song I named this blog after.  Might be the last time I heard them play it either.  Fun show.  Enjoy.

Steel Pole Bathtub @ Fox Theatre, Boulder CO, 1993-06-20

Big thanks to the incredibly prolific taper ijwthstd for all the audio he has recorded and shared with the world over the years.  Check out his site HERE.  He posted this show from an unknown taper that I knew would be of some interest to some Colorado folks.  I knew I freaked out a little bit when I saw it on his site.   So many things get recorded but not so many shows get widely disseminated so you just never know what is going to surface.

I was busy being married with children in the early 90s so I missed lots of show that I wanted to see.  This one would have been on my radar since I saw lots of shows at the Fox.  What a line up!!
Steel Pole Bathtub, Ethyl Meat Plow, and locals Foreskin 500!!   Thanks to Ted Underhill for the pic of the ticket stub.  The most certainly were on tour for their album "The Miracle Of Sound In Motion".

The source of this recording is a soundboard feed.  Mostly likely the FOH mix.  Meaning there is less guitar in the mix and more drums and vocals since the guitars are blaring out of amps on stage and don't need to be in the house mix as much.  I recall there being a patch bay behind FOH the Fox sometimes back then.  Many a board recording from the Fox.   I think this sounds good for what it is but I love me a room recording with a little more crowd feel.   Terrific relic of the time though.  Enjoy.

Elder, @ Hi Dive, Denver CO, 2022-08-31

Elder is a German band via Massachusetts.  They have been part of the heavy rock scene since 2006.  They play long cinematic songs that go on a journey.   I had never seen them before so when they announced this show with Belzebong at the Hi Dive I didn't want to miss it.

I posted the Belzebong show previously here.

I think this turned out fantastic.  This show why Hi Dive is my favorite small room for heavy stuff.
Enjoy
