Heaven and Hell @ Broomfield Events Center, 2007-04-29

Heaven and Hell (aka Dio's Black Sabbath) came to Broomfield's event center back in 2007.  I always really liked Dio and the Sabbath albums that he did.  Compared to Ozzy he can actually sing and I can honestly say I never saw a bad Dio show.  Same can't be said of Ozzy.

My only complaint about this show was no Country Girl in the setlist.

This turned out really nice so please enjoy.

Tomahawk @ The Fox Theater, Boulder, CO 2003-05-10

Well that's two Patton posts in a row.  What can I say I'm a fan.  This is a performance of his band Tomahawk on the Geek Tour that also featured Skeleton Key and the Melvins.  Fun night.

Enjoy

Fantômas @ The Bluebird Theater, Denver CO 1999-12-01

The term supergroup gets bandied about in connection with all kinds of unworthy collections of ne'er-do-wells. But I believe the moniker is well suited to this group of gentleman.  All masters of their craft I would submit.  Mike Patton of Faith No More, Mr. Bungle and many more , Buzz Osborne of Melvins, Trevor Dunn of Mr. Bungle, Secret Chiefs & more, Dave Lombardo of Slayer.

I was a fan of all of those groups when I had first heard about Fantômas back in 1998.  To say I was excited was an understatement. I picked up the debut album the day it came out and was not disappointed.  It was different for sure but still accessibly.

This is my capture of their Denver performance on their first tour of the US.  I traded this out a fair amount back in the CDR trading days.  This is a fresh transfer from the original minidisc and a remastering of the recording.  Consider it an upgrade if you've had this before.

Enjoy.

Demented Are Go @ The Larimer Lounge, Denver CO 2003-02-03

Not a lot of foreign pscychobilly bands roll through Denver.  That holds true today just as it did 10 years ago.  So when these guys came through I had to go see it.  Pretty big crowd for a snowy February night.

This is a recording from the soundboard and the guitar is a little low in the mix.  Not bad though.
All in all a fun listen.

Slim Cessna's Auto Club live on the 16th Street Mall.

I worked for an awful company in downtown Denver at the time of this show.  It was during the original internet boom and this company was keeping two sets of books and juggling an eco-compliance company and a kids sporting goods website.  One day we came in and the boss told me that our pay checks were no good and to no bother to cash it.  I wasn't too surprised. It had been kind of shady for awhile.

This Slim Cessna's Auto Club show took place in the early afternoon on workday.  I went to lunch and my regular noon time and just didn't go back until after 2 or so.  Fuck that place.  Enough context let me tell you about the show.

In the yesterdays of the early 00's there used be a Virgin Megastore down on the 16th Street mall here in Denver.  On this day Slim and his band set up and played outside in the courtyard next too it.  In view of the escalator and the Banana Republic store.

The Auto Club was playing to promote their new album Always Say Please And Thank You.  Their performance features many songs from that album and some older classics.  I think the sound is really nice on this one.  Enjoy!
