Gossip @ Larimer Lounge, Denver, CO 2006-03-13

Not sure how the Gossip got on my radar.  I think at this show I had heard of them certainly.  I ended up at this show because my then local favorites Ghost Buffalo were opening.  I didn't really know what to expect.

Turns out that I was blow away by their live energy.  What a fun show.  This was right before they / Beth sort of took Europe by storm.

I've been meaning to post this one for a while now.  I really love how it sounds.  The mix is perfect.
Enjoy

OLD MAN MARKLEY Live interview and Acoustic show at Illegal Pete’s South Broadway!

Today on the TTTAT blog I present a collaboration between myself and the Mostly Harmless Podcast.

Mostly Harmless is the brainchild of Dammit Damian and he interviews bands / musicians coming through Colorado.  We have joined forces for some live events on occasion.  This time wonderful punky bluegrass band Old Man Markley.  They were in town opening up for the Reverend Horton Heat and came by Illegal Pete's for a little happy hour show.  Damian starts it off with a brief interview and then the band plays a quick 7 songs set.  Fun times.

Check out both the audio and video over at Mostly Harmless

Here are some pictures I took of the event.

AFI @ Adams County Fairgrounds, Brighton CO 2001-07-08

This might have been the last Warped Tour that I have been too.  I started to feel really old being there.  Some where on this recording a kid calls me sir.  No wait I remember I went in 2002 as well that was the last year.

2001 was the year that a huge storm blew in and rained out most of the bands in the afternoon.  Then despite it clearing up and a couple more bands playing they pulled the plug on the whole thing.  Parking lot was a nightmare I recall.

AFI played before the downpour but you can hear Davey mention the dark clouds.

Also overheard, random guy1 "It smells like a whorehouse over here!!"  random guy2 "Oh that's just Guttermouth"  Ha Ha

This isn't the best recording but I think it's a pretty enjoyable listen.

The Reverend Horton Heat @ (The World Famous) Lion's Lair, Denver CO 2005-01-08

I noticed  in my daily news feed that it's Elvis's birthday today.  That made me think of this Reverend Horton Heat show where I remembered him playing some Elvis songs.  I checked and sure enough this show was on Elvis's birthday 9 years ago.

I hung out at the Lion's Lair a lot back when I lived in Capital Hill.  The Rev had played there a few times.  I think it was also on this day that I was hanging out early when the band showed up.  I recall the drummer walking in and saying "Not this place again!".  He might not have loved the Lair but I always loved a RHH show at the Lair.

Instead of the same old stale set that you would see him play at the Ogden. He would bust out fun covers and older songs that he doesn't play very often.  Always a good time.

I pulled it out of the archive and I think it sounds pretty nice. Figured I'd share it.  Enjoy.
