.357 Stringband @ Benders Tavern, Denver CO, 2007-06-20

.357 String band was Derek Dunn (guitar and vocals), Joseph Huber (banjo, fiddle and vocals), Rick Ness (upright bass) and Jayke Orvis (multi-instrumentalist including mandolin).  Jayke left the band in 2009 and they continued on for a few years until Joseph Huber also decided to call it a day.  They have all gone on to record more music and explore other directions.

I had forgotten about what a fun show this was.   All red hot pickers and most of the songs are barn burners.  They soldiered through a bunch of technical difficulties on this night back in 2007 at the, gone but not forgotten, Benders Tavern in Denver Colorado.   I managed to edit out most of the dead air as it were.  It was a real momentum killer at two different spots in the set that night.

Seek out their music if you dig this and check out what all the members are up to as well.
As always please support independent music and art any way you can.  Enjoy.

Iron Maiden @ Comfort Dental Amphitheater , Englewood CO. 2012-08-13

Here is a fun one from 9 years ago today.  The mighty Iron Maiden live at Comfort Dental Amphitheater.  Man that name bites.  I thought Fiddlers Green was a bad name but in comparison I'll take it.

They were on the 'Maiden England' world tour for this show.  Highlighting all of the hits instead of songs from whatever their current album is.  They seem to do something like this ever other tour.  These shows focused on songs from the Seventh Son album and older songs.  Hell of a setlist I say.

I sadly didn't see this show and this is my friend Bill's capture of this night.  Crowd is a bit chatty but vocals and nice and clear and overall I think it's quite a nice listen.  Enjoy.

Cracker @ Bluebird Theater, Denver CO, 2007-11-16

Here is the headlining Cracker show to go along with the Jason Isbell set I just posted.

I've seen Cracker and CVB a bunch of times over the years.  Always a good show.  Last time I saw them was in NYC spring of 2019 right before the shutdowns.    No doubt I will catch them again.  I doubt David Lowery is going to give up playing live anytime soon.

Nice sound and setlist on this one.  Enjoy.

Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit @ Bluebird Theater, Denver CO, 2007-11-16

I saw Jason more than a few times while he was in Drive-by Truckers.  He wrote some amazing songs during his tenure with that esteemed ensemble.   So when he went solo in 2007 I was excited to hear what he was up to.   Oh course he put out the now classic album Sirens Of The Ditch and started touring with the 400 Unit and the rest is history.  14 years later he is arguably bigger than the Truckers.  He was just in Denver last Sunday headlining Red Rocks.

He came to Denver earlier in 2007 and played the Larimer Lounge I recall.  For this show he was opening up for Cracker at the Bluebird.   In face Johnny Hickman from Cracker joins them towards the end of the set for a couple songs.

The set includes some of his new tunes, some Truckers era songs and a few well chosen covers of the Talking Heads and Tom Petty.  To this day he has a deft hand with the covers he and the band play.

Enjoy his set and I'll be getting Cracker's set from this night up as well.
