Camarosmith, Colorado Invasion 2002, September 28th and 29th

Camarosmith from Seattle Washington was formed by Don E. Paycheck and Jeff Matz while Zeke was broken up / on hiatus after 2001. The were joined by Chris Johnsen, Pat Brown, & Ben Rew and the toured a bunch for a couple years.  Zeke got back together and eventually Jeff joined High on Fire.

They play stadium rock n roll with some swagger.  Donny and Jeff really click as a rhythm section and the guitarists rip.  A solid set of original songs and a choice Judas Priest cover.  The Denver set is an nice audience recording and the Ft Collins is a ok board mix.  Both are a fun listen.  Enjoy.

Spiritualized @ Mercury Cafe, Denver CO, 1995-10-25

I was looking through what is left of the unposted MarcR archive I have and this Spiritualized show stood out.  And recently news of the Mercury Cafe, now The Pearl, was closing and then it was seized by the city for back taxes.  Sounds like the owner was either unscrupulous or incompetent.   Hopefully all that gets worked out and it ends up under better stewardship.  The spot is a Denver institution going back to the 80s.

I was going to post this show awhile ago but I did some basic looking around and it seemed that it had been shared.  While revisiting it I found that there is a reference to a audience recording existing on a fan site but no source info or links to a recording.  So this must have been traded some on DAT I imagine but no one is sharing it presently so here it is.

Sound is pretty good just like most of Marc's recordings.  Crowd is a bit chatty in spots but not terribly so.  All round fun listen.  Enjoy.

Spiritual Cramp @ Marquis Theatre, Denver CO, 2026-03-13

Here is a fresh one.  Fantastic punk rock n roll band out of San Francisco Spiritual Cramp.  I first heard these guys when I saw them open up for Militarie Gun in 2023.  I picked up the set titled album and listened to the hell out of it.  Caught them again at Punk Rock Bowling in 2025.  Fun to see them again on a smaller stage in 2026.  Not for long I imagine.  They have a big rock sound and are going places.

Great setlist, fun banter, good sound.  Enjoy.

Early Man @ Larimer Lounge, Denver CO, 2005-11-06

Here is a 2005 Early Man show at the Larimer Lounge.  They were/are Mike Conte's heavy metal thrash band active mostly in the aughts.  On this night they were touring behind their album "Closing In" that got released on Matador.  Who doesn't put out much heavy stuff.  I really like that album and the EP.  I need to check out the post 2010 stuff.  The dude can riff.

Guitars sound really big on this and vocals are lost a bit.  Mike informs the crowd he is "sick as a dog" and that no doubt effected his voice.  Some songs he sounds good.  Short and sweet.  Enjoy.

Green Day @ Double Diamond, Aspen CO, 2002-01-19

Here is another Jim Hucks capture.  He pro shot this at the 2002 Winter X Games in Aspen CO.  Link to his video at the bottom of the post. He shared with me the 24/48 audio track which is what I am presenting today.  Thanks Jim!

Pretty crazy for Green Day to be playing such a small venue in 2002.  This was a private invite only  show for X Games sponsors and athletes. They would have been at the end of the tour cycle for their 2000 album Warning.  Fun, off the cuff, song selection and a nice cover song medley.  Sounds and looks like it was a fun show.  Audio is really nice they seem in really good spirits.  Sadly the recording ends before the last 3 songs of the night.  Stellar capture otherwise.  Enjoy.

MSPAINT @ Cervantes' Other Side, Denver CO, 2025-12-17

I've been wanting to see MSPAINT live since I first heard their album "Post-American" back in 2023. I played the hell out of that album and the subsequent 2025 EP "No Separation".  Still going back for more too fantastic albums.  Something about their synth post-punk just really does it for me.

This isn't a venue that has shows I want to see very often and MSPAINT were part of an all shoegaze bill with Glare, Glixen and Blackberry Crush.  I like that stuff but it seemed like an odd paring.  Good to get out of you comfort zone sometimes.  At the end of their set the singer for headlining band Glare says "Yo give it up for MSPAINT one more time...seriously one of the best bands on the planet...but you all know that".  Pretty high praise.  That guy knows what's up.

Short 30 minute opening set but they pack in a lot of good songs from their album and EP.  Enjoy.

Slim Cessna's Auto Club @ Ogden Theatre, Denver CO, 1999-07-02

End of an era here in Denver Colorado.  Slim from Slim Cessna's Auto Club has announced that the band is done.  After 30+ years he wants to hang it up.  He got married not to long ago and is going to continue to perform with her on a limited basis.  They have release a few songs.  Munly is touring as a solo act now.  I'm sure his other acts will continue too.  Slim's son George has a great new band called El Welk and plays solo occasionally.  Life moves on in the Queen city.  So it goes.

30 years is a hell of a run and I saw a ton of SCAC and related shows in that time frame.  Thanks to Slim and all the members for all the great music and good times over the years.

I've shared a lot of my SCAC recordings but not this one before.  On this night in July of 1999 SCAC opened up for Primus at the Ogden Theatre in Denver Colorado.  I remember being stoked since I was fans of both bands but thinking it was kind of an odd billing.   Well a certain percentage of Primus fans thought that too.  Very vocally in between some of the songs.  Chanting "Primus sucks" as they would do in that era.  You can also hear people cheering as well and SCAC were pros by this point and still sounded great I think even if some of the crowd was hot garbage.

Great setlist on this night with one remnant from the pre Munly days with "Lethal Injection" and lots of stuff from Always Say Please And Thank You.  Enjoy.

Veruca Salt @ The Edge, Palo Alto CA 1994-11-12 & Ogden Theatre Denver CO 1995 -04-25

I had some requests for this Veruca Salt set from the Hole show and I recalled that MarcR had recorded them in Denver the next year as well.  So I decided to do a double feature.

Veruca Salt was touring behind their 1st album American Thighs and their hit "Seether".  To be honest I heard them on the radio but never own any of their records.  I didn't care for "Seether" all that much.  I have gained a new appreciation for Veruca Salt after listening to these shows.  They had a lot more going on than that one song.

Both of these sound pretty good like all of these MarcR recordings.  Enjoy.

Hole @ The Edge, Palo Alto CA, 1994-11-12

Here is a surprise out of MarcR's DAT collection.  I had transferred all of his batch of DATs back in 2024.  It's a real time process so I didn't always listen to the recordings while doing that work.  I had taken notice of this Hole tape of course but when I researched the show there was already a source out there.  It's up on YT if you want to hear it for comparison.  It's called Hole Falling In And Out Of Grace.  It was released as a fan made limited CD release back then.  I assumed that this DAT I had might have been the source so I set it aside and worked on something that hadn't been shared before.

This week with some false rumors swirling of a Hole reunion in the works I revisited Marc's recording and compared it to the one on YT.  There is a stark difference in sound quality.  Marc's is much much better.  I thought that it was possible that the YT show was just a downgraded version of his so I listened for some crowd banter that would have to be on both.  At the beginning of Marc's you can hear a man laugh and that isn't on the YT version.  Then right as Courtney is starting "Softer, Softest" you can hear a man on Marc's recording say "if you ever get a chance see Lyle Lovett..." very clearly and that is not on the YT version.  So I have to think Marc didn't share his version very widely.

So I'm happy to present this new audio source of this legendary Hole show for your listening enjoyment.  The banter is amazing, the setlist is all you could hope for in this era.  Band sounds great.  Courtney's voice is a little shot but she managers.  This is a little time capsule from the 90s.

Here is a more recent recording.  Today Tennessee funeral grind band Knoll.  This is from last year when i caught them opening up for Profantica at the Hi Dive on July 14th 2025.

There live performance has a sense of menace and chaos that was a thrill to watch.  I went in cold to this show to having not heard note 1 of their music.  Picked up an LP of the new release after they were done and back at the merch.  Been spinning it often since.  Great mix of grind, black metal, noise, and atmospherics.  Will totally go see these guys given a chance.   Killer stuff.  Enjoy.

Cory Branan @ Lion's Lair Denver CO, 2012-06-29

I've seen Cory Branan a bunch of times and have posted a few of those recordings on here before.  This show at The Lion's Lair in Denver on June 29th 2012 is a fun one that I have been meaning to post for awhile.  He was on tour for his album Mutt at the time and we get a fair amount of songs from that album and some deep cuts.  The 100 cap crowd at Lair were mostly fans so he fielded a lot of requests and tells a lot of stories.   Some great covers too including a George Jones song I had never heard him play and a take on the odd post-blues Randy Neuman song "Let's Burn Down the Cornfield".

I think I might have not shared this because I thought it was too chatty in the small room but listening back to it I found it has just the right amount of the bar room atmosphere.  His vocals and guitar are sharp and clear and I've had a fine time hearing this on repeat for the last few days.  Enjoy.

Here is a set from T.S.O.L. at the 2000 edition of the Warped Tour that had a stop in Brighton Colorado.  This is my only time seeing them and it was a good time.  Pretty good setlist and Jack Grisham's stage banter is top notch.

Recording outside in a parking lot can be difficult.  Oddly vocals are pretty clear in places were the guitars are phased out a bit.  It is what it is.   I've never shared this widely.  Maybe a CDR or two.
Enjoy.

I never went to many DJ kind of shows and I probably wouldn't have gone to see RJD2 if I hadn't be guest listed and asked record the set for a friend at the theatre.  RJD2 was rad though.  He is a master in turntablism and it was cool to watch him spin and pull records.  I'm glad to have caught the show.

22 years later I have gotten around to processing the recording.  I had forgotten how interesting it was and I had totally forgotten that he encores with a super mellow song he sings while playing acoustic guitar. Enjoy.

Tenderloin @ Parts Unknown USA, 1997-xx-xx

I was transferring a load of cassettes that I had received in trade at the end of the 90s and early aughts.  Lots of Supersuckers shows with some Reverend Horton Heat & New Bomb Turks too.  In the process of going through all of those recordings I discovered this 3 song snippet of fantastic Kansas band Tenderloin.

It wasn't listed on the cassette J card and it was so long ago I can't remember who the trade was with.  From the songs they play I'm guessing the performance is from 1997. They are all songs off the self titled album that came out on Time Bomb.  No clue were the show happened.

I am a huge Tenderloin fan and was lucky enough to see them once.  They opened up for Soundgarden in 1996 along with Rocket From The Crypt here in Denver.  Most of the crowd just didn't get it.  I loved every second of it.

I was listening to my digital music collection on random this week and some Tenderloin pop up and I ended up listening to their entire catalog.  I recalled this brief recording and after listening to it again I decided to share it.  Great rock and roll.  Worth seeking out. This is short and sweet and sounds pretty good I think.  Enjoy.

Helmet @ Ogden Theatre, Denver CO, 1994-11-28

My friend Jim Hucks captured a ton of amazing video footage over the years.  If your a Helmet fan you might have seen this on YT or clips of it on his channel.  You can see it here.  Jim's video
He sent me the audio from his video to me so I could share it with y'all.

It's a lovely board feed with a rabid crowd right up front so you hear folks yelling for songs here or there.  I've really enjoyed listening to this while preparing it for upload. This was the tour for Betty so it's stacked with songs from that including some deep cuts like Pariah.  They also played a cover of Killing Joke's song "Primitive" ending with FBLA II into Unsung.  Amazing show.  Wish I had been there but again big thanks to Jim for this capture.

Scott H. Biram @ HQ, Denver CO, 2025-10-16

I've seen Scott H. Biram a bunch of times in the last 22 years.  This show was an outlier in that it wasn't a full house.  Not even close.  At the show it didn't seem like he minded but listening back he keeps talking about the good old days of selling out Three Kings Tavern.  Song choice's seem a bit melancholy.   Or maybe it was the tequila he was enjoying.  If he was down about it he still gave us a hell of a 90 minutes.  Thanks Scott.

Lots of old blues covers in the set which par for the course.  I've seen him go really heavy with some deep cuts before.  One time he covered Budgies "Crash Course In Brain Surgery".  He went deep on this night covering Austin TX cult band Crust's song "Sacred Heart".  Crust was on King Coffey's Austin label Trance Syndicate.  It crawls into some Butthole Surfers territory in the best way.  Then right after that he played his old song "No Way" which I have been requesting on this night.  Stellar show.  Enjoy.

The Spittin' Cobras @ Three Kings Tavern, Denver CO, 2012-11-01

Here is a set for a kick ass Seattle Washington. rock n roll band The Spittin' Cobras.  At Three Kings Tavern as part of a 4 band RnR bill.  The Spittin' Cobras was helmed by Jules Hodgson who plays with PIG and KMFDM going back to the early aughts Alex Karchevsky on vocals, and Jake Hagan on bass.  They only put out one album but came through Denver a few times.    At some point they changed their name to Detönatör.  Basically the same sound members.  They just put a out a new EP on bandcamp.
Fun Rock N Roll band.  Check em out.

Pretty good sound and a setlist with 2 new at the time songs that I don't think ever were recorded or turned into Detönatör songs.  Enjoy.
