Joe Jackson @ Paramount Theatre, Denver CO, 1994-12-08

For today's post here is another of MarcR's mid 90s DAT captures.  I have been wanting to post this one for awhile. I was finally inspired buy the Anthrax show I just posted.  They had a minor hit with a cover of his song "Got The Time" and played at that 2000 Boulder show.  That was a song on Joe Jackson's first album from 1979.  For this tour in 1994 Joe keeps the fast tempo of that song but with more acoustic instrumentation.  Fun to compare those back to back.

I'm  guessing Marc sat at the  front of the balcony for this as there isn't much chatter.  Good crowd and Joe talks a bunch through out the set.  And wow what a set at almost 2 hours.  Nice sound on this one I think.  Enjoy.

Anthrax @ Fox Theatre, Boulder CO, 2000-01-31

In 1987 when Anthrax's album Among The Living came out I had already been a fan for a little bit.  I was 18 and trying to share my love for the album with my Mom.  Through the connection that we both were Steven King fans.  I didn't think she would love it but she heard it and made a face of dislike.  Then she said "That sounds like dangerous accident music, I hope you don't listen to that while you're driving"

At this Anthrax show from the Fox Theatre in Boulder Colorado in January of the year 2000.  Right before they play Metal Thrashing Mad, Scott Ian talks for a little bit, and he mentions that this song is about drinking and driving to fast.  So, as with a lot of things, Mom was right.

Anthrax was on tour for a greatest hits collection called "Return Of The Killer As".  It featured a cover of The Temptations song "Ball of Confusion" that had vocals from current vocalist John Bush and former vocalist at the time Joey Belladona.  This was supposed to a tour with both of them trading off songs.  Somehow that didn't work out so it is just John Bush singing.

Fox always sounded good so this is pretty ok.  Vocals and clear and the drums are thundering.  Guitars get a little muddy but very listenable.  Enjoy.

Indian @ Bluebird Theatre, Denver CO, 2022-07-15

This is about the polar opposite of the last post.  Sludge doom group Indian from Chicago are quite a bit louder than Low.  They don't play out a whole lot but I've been lucky and have seen them twice. Once at a Psycho Vegas fest in 2018 and then on this killer bill in Denver with Primitive Man in 2022.  Ethan McCarthy from Primitive Man joins them for for this set adding noise and electronic flourishes.  It's just loud, ugly and brutal start to finish.  I love this kind of stuff.  Especially live.

Low @ Ogden Theatre, Denver CO, 1995-09-26

Here is another of the MarcR DAT archive.  This time I present a really beautiful recording of the Minnesota band Low at the Ogden Theatre back on September 26th 1995.  They were on tour with Soul Coughing.  They were supporting their album 'Long Division' but played some older songs and some songs that end up on the next album 'The Curtain Hits The Cast'.

I have been listening to Alan Sparhawk's newest solo album and his collaboration with Trampled By Turtles a bunch recently.  Both are fantastic is different ways.  That reminded me MarcR had a Low recording.  After really listening to it I knew I had to share it. This show isn't listed on setlist fm or on the Low LMA page.  So here is an uncirculated 1995 Low show with one of the most respectful and quiet audiences I have ever not heard.  Alan even thanks them for being so quiet at one point. Enjoy!
