Wormrot, Iron Lung, HOAX, Haggus live in Denver 2010,2013,2014,2016

4 Band post today.  All underground bands.  I would venture to say most folks have no idea about these groups.  This is a mix of grindcore, hardcore, and whatever you call the awesomeness that Haggus is doing.

I pride myself on figuring out the setlist before I post shows for the most part but these are relativity hard to suss out so I picked the low hanging fruit of songs that got called out.  Or for the HOAX set I just left it as one track.  If anyone wants to take a crack and filling in the blanks I would welcome an update in the comments.

Otherwise enjoy some sounds from way out.  I especially enjoyed revisiting the Wormrot show.  I didn't recall that I had separate audio from the videos that I had shot of the show. So the audio for the video is a separate source.

Blood Incantation @ Syntax Psychic Opera, Denver CO, 2018-11-30

A good indication of how much I miss going to show is that while reviewing this recording to post I listened to the "intro" track multiple times.   It's just some brief ambient sounds and the chatter of the crowd excited for the band to play.  Took me right back to standing in the crowd at Syntax waiting for Blood Incantation to start.  It made me both happy and sad at the same time.

This night had a killer line up.  Blood Incantation, Thou, and Lingua Ignota.  I feel like I'm forgetting one other band.  I can't find a flyer though.

I loved seeing metal shows at Syntax for the short while that happened before it closed.  Nice small cozy room with the stage backed by a red velvet back wall surrounded by vaudeville lights.  Plus it was just a short walk from my place.

Short but sweet set from Blood Incantation this night.  They played 2 songs of the then upcoming Hidden History Of The Human Race album and closed with and almost 20 minute long version of The Vitrification Of Blood.  It was fucking amazing.

Go buy stuff from Blood Incantation and any of your favorite bands right now.  No touring has really cut into many artists livelihoods and they could use any support you can send their way.

Enjoy

Mogwai @ Bluebird Theater, Denver CO, 2001-06-03

So much reminiscing going on these days with all live music on hold for the moment.  There has been some hopeful talk about music returning this fall.  Fingers crossed.  Might be 2022 before we see a new normal.

One of the shows I have been thinking about recently was this June 2001 Denver appearance of Scottish post rock band Mogwai.  They were on tour for Rock Action so we get a good number of tunes from that and 99's Come On Die Young.  And an early version of Black Spider that was called Big E at the time.

I was still pretty new to recording live audio at this time but I've always been really happy with how this turned out.  It can be tough with a band like Mogwai that has a very quite to loud dynamic.  Amazingly quiet and respectful crowd for the most part too.  That has been missed at some shows in the not to recent past with really chatty crowds.  I don't get it but I would love to even be at a show with a crowd full of talkers right about now.

I'm sure I traded this out on CDR to some degree.  That was right towards the end of that era but I've never shared it on here or in a torrent.  Thinking about it now I might have shared this on a P2P sight as MP3s.  So long ago.

This is a fresh transfer from the masters.  I tweaked  the levels a little bit and there is new tracking and tagging.  Cleaned up the drop outs.  I consider this an upgrade the that CDR version.

While I was double checking the track list and seeing if this show was out there already I found what must be the either the CDR or MP3 version.  Check it out if you like.

Enjoy

Here is another show from the Tracy Murillo archive.  This time a tour ending blowout at the Continental Club in Houston Texas back in 2006.  Nice long 70 minute set of Honky tunes.

Fun stuff.  Hope to someday see Honky play again.  Enjoy.

Big Business, Houston and Austin, Texas, March 2007

Today we have a pair of recordings from another taper.  Mr. Tracy Murillo captured a bunch of killer shows in the aughts on minidisc.   He shared those masters with me and I'm going to share some of those shows with you.

First up are a pair of Big Business shows.  They were on tour for 'Here Come The Waterworks"

Toshi Kasai was on tour with Big Biz and mush have been doing FOH at these shows. He is credited with remote keyboards and noise.  Also Dale Crover shows up at the Austin show and joins Big Biz on guitar for the last song "Big John".  Which as far as I can tell has never appeared on a studio album.

Enjoy the Big Business recordings and watch for some more out of Texas including Honky, The Suplecs, Dixie Witch, and (men of) Porn.
